POSITION OPENING: Event Marketing Assisstant
OBJECTIVES:
Support the execution and development of programs, which promote activities to advance the general welfare and prosperity of the Headland area and ensure the business community grows and prospers.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Promote the community of Headland.
– Must be knowledgeable of all projects, events, and activities city-wide.
– Attend the manage community events as key personnel, e.g., layout setup, signage, vendor setup, talent setup, and coordination with HeadlandPolice, Street, and Beautification departments.
– Create graphics, copy, and promotional pieces for events, programs, advertising campaigns, and projects.
– Communicate effectively with administrators, board members, volunteers, and media.
– Represent the community locally, regionally, and nationally.
– Work cooperatively on joint projects between City and Chamber programs.
– Coordinating and promoting promotional events for members.
– Work with the Director and Treasurer to stay within budget guidelines for events and promotions.
– Create content, maintain social media accounts and websites, and create promotions as needed.
– Establish networks and maintain sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups and organizations.
– Create materials and events to heighten tourism, revitalization efforts, retention and expansion programs, and infrastructure development.
– Learn necessary systems and software programs.
– Field calls and emails and provide relevant information.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A) Preferred: College Degree or Previous experience in Event Planning, Economic Development, Main Street, Chamber of Commerce, Community Planning, or similar field. (Degree and experience in at least one of the following fields: business, marketing, event management, hospitality, public relations, communications, finance, or related field.) Internship seekers are also encouraged to apply.
B) Enthusiastic, creative, well-organized, self-motivated, and capable of functioning effectively in an independent environment.
C) Sound time management skills and strong verbal skills.
D) Strong written communication skills. Written communication includes emails. newsletters, brochures, social media posts, letters, press releases, and requests for information, quotations, or proposals.
E) Ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel Spreadsheets, Microsoft Publisher, Powerpoint, Canva, and others as needed.
F) Graphic and Advertising Design
G) Video editing and creation a plus
H) Grant writing experience a plus
I) Available to work a flexible schedule for meetings, special events, and continuing education training.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Hourly rate is up to $12.50 per hour and is based on experience. Weekly hours not to exceed 30.
