Leadership HENRY inaugural class taking applications
A leadership program for adults who live or work in Henry County will launch this fall and is accepting applications until August 16. The Leadership HENRY program was established to build a stronger community by developing leaders who effectively serve and unify Henry County.
A program of the Henry County Economic Development Authority, in cooperation with the Abbeville Chamber of Commerce and Headland Chamber of Commerce, Leadership HENRY provides a diverse group of emerging and existing leaders with opportunities to enhance their community knowledge, civic network and leadership skills through a 9-month curriculum.
“This annual program will help participants gain perspectives on issues that are important to our community,” Rhonda Harrison, HCEDA executive director said. “They will have an opportunity to interact with local stakeholders and regional decision-makers, identify new avenues for civic engagement, and establish a diverse network with leaders across all sectors. Graduates of this program will become a strong networking resource for our county.”
Participants will meet for a full day on the third Tuesday of the month, September through May. Session topics will include Team Building, Leadership Skills, Education, Government, Public Safety, Industry & Economic Development, Healthcare, Agriculture, and Community Services.
Applicants must be 21 years or older, live or work in Henry County, show sincere interest in the future of the county, and indicate a commitment to help shape its future. Unless the applicant is self-employed, the applicant’s employer is required to endorse the application, since participation will require time away from work. Tuition is $250 for each participant and covers all program costs including meals and materials.
